Blue suede shoes and satin pumps
Acrylic on canvas, 24x36, 2022
My hope is that viewers experience the work as playful and humorous but also dark - not gloomy images that conjure up a worrying undertone or back story. I'm always looking for a sweet spot where there is tension, humour and fear at the same time.
Born and raised in Toronto, I trained as a sculptor although lately I've focused more on painting. Ideas drive the painting style and I tend to build a painting, much like I would a sculpture. When making objects, I use a variety of materials ranging from plaster, wax, wood and found objects.
